Pipe supports are industrial fittings used to support and secure pipes, primarily in piping systems in industries such as petroleum, chemical, power plants, and pharmaceutical plants. Their core function is to ensure the stability of pipelines during operation, preventing displacement or deformation caused by vibration, thermal expansion and contraction, or external forces. Pipe supports are generally categorized into various types based on material, shape, and purpose, such as polyurethane cold-insulated pipe supports, sliding pipe supports, and fixed pipe supports.
Pipe supports can be made of metal (such as carbon steel and stainless steel) or non-metallic materials (such as polyurethane and rubber). Metal pipe supports are often welded and surface-treated, such as painting or galvanizing, to enhance corrosion resistance. Non-metallic pipe supports are often used for cold-insulation or vibration reduction. For example, polyurethane pipe supports, due to their low thermal conductivity, are suitable for low-temperature pipes.
During installation, please note the following steps:
1. Measurement and Positioning: Determine the spacing between pipe supports based on the pipe diameter and load (usually 1.5-3 meters);
2. Fixing Method: Weld or bolt, ensuring the load-bearing surface is flat;
3. Adjust the Gap: Allow for thermal expansion (recommended 5-10mm). High-risk operations, such as welding without adequate fire protection measures or excessive loads, can cause pipe fracture.
Industry standards such as GB/T 17116 clearly define the load and temperature resistance of pipe supports. Users must select the appropriate model based on the pipe medium temperature (-196°C to +450°C) and pressure. We currently offer polyurethane insulated pipe supports in a vertical design with a galvanized or painted surface. Custom thicknesses and packaging (wooden boxes or pallets) are available. They are suitable for harsh environments such as the petroleum and chemical industries, remain stable and securely installed.
